There is no doubt that Iron Man represents one of the pillars of the Marvel Universe and I think this was clear even to the early Italian readers of the 70s (despite the choice of the publishing Company to use him as a simple sparring partner in the Comics series dedicated to Daredevil). Over the years, the figurative appeal of this character increased in an impressive way, insomuch as the original tables of Kirby nowadays appear more or less a sort of archaeological find! Nevertheless, the real breakthrough is probably more recent, and is due to the cinema: the resounding success of the recent blockbusters dedicated to the character, masterfully interpreted by Robert Downey jr. and made possible by the special effects of the modern Computer Graphics, gave the hero a success and a reputation of a planetary level, making him the symbol and the icon par excellence (along with the omnipresent Spider Man) of the Marvel brand. Bowen has devoted to Iron Man a remarkable number of statues and busts, also driven by the many variations experienced by the character on Comics and, most importantly, the countless stylistic variations of the armor: stealth, silver centurion, extremis, space armor, hulkbuster, war machine and so on. In this vast production, of course, also the more classic Iron Man is present, in both the older version (essentially monochromatic and equipped with a very retro look) and the one more familiar to readers, characterized by the red-gold color combination and proposed in many different, static and dynamic, poses. In addition to the old, Classic Statue and two charming Faux Bronze pieces, my collection includes the beautiful Museum Statue released by Bowen Design in 2011, with an edition size of 750 pieces and digitally sculpted by Khurram Alavi. The figure is placed on a high elliptical base with two large, lateral supports and exhibits a perfect front pose, with legs slightly apart, outstretched arms and clenched fists. The armor is the one of the original Comics of 60s, with a metallic semblance, but that defines the body's shape as it were made by a stretch fabric! The characteristic large circular plates at the hips are very well done, as well as the horizontal streaks on the belly and on the gloves and boots (characterized by high and well-shaped lapels) or the circular reactor centered on the chest. The muscles of torso, arms and legs are highly outlined and pointed out by impeccable shades of color. The mask exhibits the classic "V" contour on the forehead and a squarer shape at the chin, with small prismatic splits in correspondence to eyes and mouth. The head is removable and the circular (magnetized) groove allows to rotate it to your liking, thus allowing to change the display in a simple and smart way. Ultimately, a statue with a good aesthetic impact and a worthy representation of one of the most fascinating heroes of all times.
